Custom wallpapers for hotels: how wall motifs shape the hotel experience
In luxury hospitality projects, space is no longer just a place to stay. It becomes part of an experience that guests remember long after they leave.
That's why modern hotels are increasingly paying attention to the atmosphere of the space, the identity of the interior, and details that create an emotional experience. Walls are no longer just a background; they are an important part of the hotel's visual identity.
Designer wallpapers, wall graphics, and custom-made motifs today play an important role in shaping boutique and heritage hotels that want to create an authentic, recognizable, and luxurious impression.
For the Jadran Heritage Hotel 5★ project in Poreč, part of the Valamar Collection brand, Walls with Souls participated in shaping the visual identity of the space through designer wallpapers developed specifically for this heritage hotel.

Hotel interior design inspired by Mediterranean heritage
The project was realized in cooperation with the architectural office Tissa & Partneri, on the renovation of the historic building of the former Hotel Venezia from 1913. The hotel's interior is conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of Mediterranean heritage luxury, inspired by Venetian heritage, the aesthetics of the 1930s, and the beginnings of tourism on the Adriatic.
A discreet layer of contemporary art inspired by the sea and Mediterranean symbolism runs through the space, while the combination of velvet, wood, brass, ceramics, and stone gives the space depth and character. In such a concept, designer wallpapers become an important part of the hotel interior design, not just a decorative element.
In hospitality projects, the visual identity of the space often plays an important role in differentiating the hotel and the overall guest experience.

Why do hotels increasingly use designer wallpapers?
Unlike generic hotel interiors, designer wallpapers enable the creation of a space connected to the location, brand identity, and guest experience.
Boutique hotels, heritage hotels, and luxury hospitality projects are increasingly using custom-made wall motifs to:
-
give the space a recognizable character
-
create an emotional experience
-
connect the interior with the story of the location
-
and offer guests an experience that differs from standardized hotel spaces.
This approach not only shapes the appearance of the space but also how guests perceive the hotel.

Designer wallpapers as part of the identity of boutique hotels
In the 12 carefully designed rooms of the Jadran Heritage Hotel, the idea of "lived-in" luxury is fostered through rich textures, retro silhouettes, custom-made headboards, and curated details. Wallpapers with designer motifs become a strong visual accent that connects the Mediterranean's casualness with the historical sophistication of the space.
The motifs developed for the hotel are inspired by Mediterranean flora and the atmosphere of summer life, with a reinterpretation of the ornamental splendor of Baroque and Venetian Renaissance. This approach allowed the wall motifs to fully integrate into the hotel's identity and its spatial narrative.
When a motif is developed in accordance with the architectural concept, the space acquires an identity connected to the location, the hotel's story, and the experience of staying.

Custom wallpapers for hotel projects
The Jadran Heritage Hotel project involved a series of adjustments to motifs, colors, and compositions so that each wallpaper position matched the specific space. Through cooperation with architects and investors, several variants of patterns, dimensions, and color solutions were developed until final implementation.
For four types of rooms, different color variants of the motif were defined, including green, brown, purple, and blue tones. Structured linen wallpapers of higher grammage were chosen to ensure durability, joint stability, and visual depth of the print, even in large formats.
In hotel interiors, material durability, resistance, and ease of maintenance are particularly important. Walls with Souls wallpapers are produced with printing technology resistant to wear and long-term color stability, and they are washable and suitable for high-traffic areas such as hotels, restaurants, and business interiors.

How wall motifs change the guest experience
Unlike standardized hotel interiors, custom-made wallpapers and designer wall motifs allow the space to leave an authentic and recognizable impression.
These details often define how guests perceive the space:
-
does the hotel feel cold or atmospheric
-
generic or authentic
-
forgettable or special.
At the Jadran Heritage Hotel, wall motifs are not conceived as decoration but as part of a spatial narrative that connects the history of the location, the Mediterranean way of life, and contemporary luxury.
This approach is increasingly used by luxury hotels and boutique accommodations that want to create an emotional experience of space and differentiate themselves through hotel interior design.
