A year on the Pical Resort project: from the first measurement to the grand opening
In the spring of 2025, we first arrived at the construction site of the future Pical Resort in Poreč.
Although the basic outlines of the building were already visible, part of the space was still far from what would become one of the most impressive hotel projects in Croatia a year later.
Some walls were still unfinished. Certain areas were just getting their final dimensions, and some existed only on blueprints.
That's when our part of the project began.
Each new arrival brought a completely different picture.
Over the next year, we visited the site multiple times for measurements, coordination, motif adaptation, production organization, and installation.
What fascinated us most was not the size of the project. It was the speed at which it progressed.
The intervals between our visits were approximately three weeks. And almost every time, we felt like we were arriving at a completely new place.
Spaces that were a construction site just a few weeks prior suddenly had finished walls, lighting, furniture, and an increasing number of elements that revealed what the hotel would ultimately look like.
We often wondered how it was possible to accomplish so much in such a short time.
It's only when you participate in a project of this magnitude that you realize how much human effort, coordination, and dedicated work are needed to bring such a project to completion.

Our part of the project
We participated in the project through measurements, motif adaptation, production, and installation of wallpapers in various parts of the building.
The project included more than 500 hotel rooms and a series of public spaces with different purposes.
Wallpapers of different textures were used for hotel rooms, while motifs developed in collaboration with the design office, branding agency, and investor were created and printed for public spaces.
Each space had its own character and function. And each motif had its role in creating the overall experience of the space.

When blueprints become real spaces
One of the most beautiful moments of any project occurs when what you've been looking at for months on blueprints, screens, and samples finally becomes a real space.
At that point, wallpaper ceases to be just a material on the wall. It becomes part of the interior. Part of the atmosphere. Part of the experience the guest will have during their stay.
That is precisely why projects like these always carry special weight. Because you're not creating a product. You're participating in creating an ambiance.

The moment that brought it all together
After a year of work, the grand opening arrived.
For me personally, one of the most special moments occurred when I first spent the night in one of the rooms we worked on during the project.

While staying in the room, it was hard not to recall the first visits to the construction site.
Measurements. Coordination. Installations. All the phases that preceded the final result.
At that moment, it became perfectly clear how much had changed in one year. From a construction site to a space that now welcomes its first guests.
Large projects are always team projects
Pical Resort is the result of the work of a large number of designers, contractors, craftsmen, manufacturers, and experts of various profiles.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of this process and contribute to the realization of the largest hotel project in Croatia.
Because, in the end, we may not remember every detail of the project.
But we remember the feeling when we first see a finished space that we know we helped create.
